Nilesh Thomas

Nilesh is an accomplished sound engineer and academic with over 20 years of experience in music, media, and higher education. Previously, he served as the head of academics at the International College of Music in Kuala Lumpur, where he led transnational collaborations with the University of Westminster (UK), University of Wolverhampton (UK), University of Hertfordshire (UK), and Berklee College of Music, Boston, to deliver quality undergraduate courses in music performance, production, business, and sound engineering. After returning to India, Nilesh served in various leadership capacities at the True School of Music, including as the school’s dean.

Nilesh is well-versed in designing and aligning curricula with educational frameworks like the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQA), British QAA, and India’s National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). He played a pivotal role in developing India’s first National Occupational Standards in Music for roles like Music Programmer, Producer, and Composer/Director, adopted by the National Skill Development Corporation and the Media and Entertainment Skills Council.

Nilesh holds certifications as a Master Trainer for Sound Engineering, an Apple Distinguished Educator, and an Avid Certified Instructor. Nilesh earned his master’s degree in Music Technology from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and an undergraduate degree in Electronics from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. His extensive expertise, credentials, and dedication have made him a highly respected figure in the field, and he currently serves as the external examiner for Sunway University’s  School of Arts (Malaysia), alongside his role as the Chief Academic Officer at Future School.
